TransitCenter

Transit Equity Advocacy

TransitCenter is an advocacy group dedicated to improving urban mobility nationwide. Since 2017, we’ve worked closely with the organization’s communications lead to create several videos a year. This set represents a more serious topic – racial and social equity in public transit – and thus more serious approaches to illustrating the challenges and the proposed solutions.

“Get Maryland Moving” Campaign

Created in collaboration with TransitCenter and The Central Maryland Transportation Alliance, this months-long, data-driven activation campaign encourages citizen advocacy to move federal fund spending from highways to public transit, biking and walking projects. This video serves as a quick introduction.

The Legacy of Racism in Transit: How We Got Here, and What to Do About It

Good transit makes cities more equitable, but it is rife with racial inequities. Taking advantage of Zoom, TransitCenter asked prominent transit experts and policy advocates to delve into the roots of our current transit inequities and how historical factors continue to shape transit today.

TC provided a rough cut and supporting script to Undefined for graphics, b-roll and finishing.

Federal Funding for Transit

Could better public transit help solve major social challenges?
Spoiler alert: the answer is “yes!”

This advocacy video enlists Nia, a fictional (but all too real) Black Atlanta resident whose work commute takes 90 minutes to help TransitCenter illustrate how continuously improving public transit can help with bigger problems, like racial equity and carbon emissions.

COVID-19 & Transit Equity

A powerful and timely statement for the TransitCenter that highlights the relationship between public transit, essential workforce and racial justice, and the role of transit policy in the fight for equality.

Who’s On Board

TransitCenter is an advocacy group dedicated to improving urban mobility nationwide. Their "Who's On Board 2019" report looked at the fall in transit ridership in 2018. The results showed that most riders aren’t abandoning transit, but taking fewer trips. This duo of fun and info-packed animations illustrates the reasons why riders opt out of public transit and how to win them back.

From Sorry to Superb

As a companion to the digital report entitled “From Sorry to Superb: Everything You Need to Know about Great Bus Stops” this video illustrates the storyline of dreadful bus stop conditions in greater Los Angeles and the surrounding bureaucracy which inhibits improvement. The look matches the publication with a combination of photos and stylized illustrations, and adds video to enhance the human element in the story.
